Business Development Director

The Mission:
Our client is looking for a strategic and commercially driven Business Development Director to build and lead their business development function. This is a senior role focused on winning new clients, expanding existing client partnerships, and driving sustainable revenue growth.

 Role Summary:

You will shape and deliver their business development strategy, identifying where they focus, how they position themselves, and how they win. You’ll own the full sales lifecycle, from prospecting through to closing, while building a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities.

Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, you’ll bring together the right expertise to create compelling proposals and pitches and maximise their chances of success. You’ll also lead and develop the BD team, embedding a high-performance, collaborative culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and deliver a focused business development strategy aligned to company goals
• Win new-to-business clients and drive growth within existing accounts
• Own and lead the end-to-end sales process, including pitches and contracting
• Build and maintain a high-quality pipeline of opportunities
• Develop impactful credentials and sales materials
• Provide clear pipeline and forecast updates to leadership
• Lead, coach and develop the BD team
• Collaborate with marketing and internal experts to support successful bids

 

Ideal Candidate:
• In order to excel their expansion ambitions, they are seeking a proven BD professional to take the reigns
• Proven success winning new business and delivering against revenue targets
• Experience managing the full sales cycle end-to-end
• Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery
• A strong track record of developing business in a medical communications agency
• Ability to identify and convert opportunities within existing clients
• Strong commercial judgement and positioning skills
• Experience leading and developing teams
• Strong understanding of the pharma/medical communications landscape
• Confident using CRM systems and managing sales data

 

Location: Manchester or Oxfordshire (remote/hybrid options available) must be based in the UK
